Can people steal your luggage from the Baggage claim Area?
Sdfj asked:
I just realized. Why do they have an open thing carrying the luggage when any person can just take off with any bag they like. ? Shouldnt they make something easier so people dont get there luggage stolen?

I think anyone can take what ever luggage they want to. I would only take my luggage and never take anything that was not mine. And I agree with you, that they should have a better way so luggage can not get stolen.
I am not saying that you are going to steal someones luggage. Knight
Yes, anyone can steal your luggage…but apparently it doesn’t happen often or the system would’ve been changed long ago.
Figure that most of the people retrieving their luggage are all at the carousel at the same time (not all and not always, but most) so chances are you’d see someone snatch your bag. It would take someone rather bold to take a bag not theirs and risk the bag’s owner seeing the theft occur…unless they knew for sure the bag’s owner wasn’t present at the time. BabeHart
It can happen.
Many decades ago, I know that LA had barriers around the baggage claim carousels, and there were staff at the exit points from baggage claim who would check the number on the airline tag on the luggage against the luggage claim check that you had.
I don’t think that stopped the occasional theft of bags, and the present system really has no deterrent. Roger K
yeah i steal luggage all the time Randy
