Loony asked:

I’m flying to Germany as an exchange student for a few weeks. I will be staying with the family whose daughter stayed with us a couple months ago. Her favorite drink here was Dr. Pepper. So I wanted to confirm that you could or couldnt pack pop in your luggage.

I wouldnt air pressure could cause it to explode and make a mess of your clothes!!

yes you can. just take precautions incase it leaks/explodes. (put it in a gallon size ziplock and seal. then wrap it in clothes.

You should be ok. As long as it is not in your carry on. I think the other persons soda on here exploded from the luggage being thrown around not from air pressure. I have seen the way they throw luggage and it is not pretty. Be prepared for a mess though if it isn’t packed well because I have seen luggage fall off the conveyor belt from like 20 feet in the air.

Also in the future if you want to know what you can and cannot take in your carry on and check luggage, here is the link to the TSA website

Yes, packing a bottle of pop is allowed. However, make sure you take proper precautions! Make sure you put the pop in a ziploc bag (the ones that will meet airport guidlines-you can buy a pack in the travel shampoos and such section of walmart or pharmacy or something) and put it in the luggage to avoid leaks or spills, or explodes because of the air pressure, and also because they do not usually handle luggage with care when putting them on baggage corrals, and throwing them in piles and such, so it could explode because of that too. Make sure the bag is sealed completely and the cap is on tight!

    Hope I helped a bit :D

For safewty’s sake, wait until you are through security and buy a bottle airside- I know it’s more expensive to do this buit as it’s a present, it will be worth every penny.
