Can you put a backpack in the washer?
niners1800 asked:
I know this question sounds weird but I was thinking one day if my backpack ever gets dirty, maybe i could put it in the washer. do you think that is safe? will anything happen to it? thanks.

It depends on the material it is made out of. Most are OK to wash, but I would line dry it. Wash it by itself to, all the zippers could tear other items. mommy
That all depends on the style and design of your backpack.
If it is external frame, remove it from the frame first. then make sure you can remove (and later reinstall) any support mechanisms like wire frames to hold the mouth of the bag open.
If it is an internal frame, you need to be able to remove the support stays before washing.
Basically, if you can reduce your pack to nothing but nylon denier and the attached buckles & zippers, you can wash it in your machine. Wash on cold & gentle.
Make sure you are knowledgeable enough to be able to reassemble it after washing!
I have done this several times with multiple backpacks and have not encountered any problems — and my pack smells better too! Phil W
Nothing will happen to it. Just wash it and hang it out to dry. William E
it shouldn’t be a problem, just put it on a delicate or slower cycle and airdry afterward nd721

Yes, you can put it in the washer. Unless it’s made of a material like suede or leather. Then avoid the washer. If it’s a normal backpack it can go into the wash. I’d wash it in delicate or permanent press. I’d turn it inside out if possible, and hang it up to dry. Maybe no heat dry. dustbegone
