You can put formula in your luggage. IF they think it’s drugs they will test it.

Yes but it has to be in your hand luggage and they may ask you to try it in front of them

yes you can - but you may be required to taste it! We took 2 baby bottles made up with water and a pot with enough for 3 feeds in it in our hand luggage - the milk powder for 2 weeks holiday was in our cases. Security passed me through with no problems but I did declare it and show them the bottles before we went through. They were more concerned with scanning the pushchair!

I travelled with formula in my carry on. They checked it when I went through security, but when I told them what it was, they were fine with it. There is a restriction on the amount of liquid (here it was no more than 16oz), so check with the airport before your trip. We just brought enough for the trip, and then bought a bunch when we landed. I found that the prices tend to be similar no matter where you are, so there was no point to cramming a case of it into the luggage.

    hi, i can help.

having flown abroad from uk to spain often with my twins since they were 12 wks….

i spoke to easyjet and other airlines plus the airport.

i even spoke to sma re milk powder in the aircraft hold.

    I was told,

Milk powder CAN go into yr suitcase, better than handluggae where it may fall under suspicion, i was told to use factory sealed original baby milk tins, dont decant it. SMA said that although baggage in the hold is exposed to freezing temperatures milk powder can be safely put into the hold.

Dont try to travl with ready made milk in small cartons, mine were confiscated even tho my twins were on a special high energy milk !!! i was told to re buy it in Boots after passing customs (even tho it is prescription only !!). I had to taste and baby jars on some trips, on others even my sealed jars of baby food was taken. I even had small suntan lotion bottles removed leaving me forced to buy some again 5 mins later so my babies wouldnt burn once we landed the other side.

It really depends how much of a jobsworth u get when going thro !!!

    good luck

on the plus side my twins both travelled fine every time !!! (the buggy however did not, lost, damaged etc etc its pot luck if u get it back or not !!)

Yes- baby food and milk are exempt from the rules affecting other liquids and gels… Put the formula in the case that’s going in the planes hold but you can keep a made up bottle in your hand luggage.

  7. jackie m says:

in suitcase unopened, if its made up in bottles it can only be a small amount unsure of exact amount, phone airport and ask.

We’ve travelled overseas with our infant son from the US to Europe three times now and always brought bottled water and powdered formula in our carry-on luggage through security. We also checked a big tin of the power in our luggage. It was never once a problem. I think the rule is it has to be a ‘reasonable amount’ but given delays and such it’s easy to argue you need a lot of it. Happy travels.
