Storing luggage at Manchester airport or train station?

I am flying from Manchester airport in a few days, arriving at Manchester by train.
I want to go to Manchester a bit earlier and have a look around the city. Where can I leave my luggage so I don’t have to carry it around?
Are there any lockers at the Manchester airport or at one of the train stations in the city centre? (Oxford Road or Piccadilly)?

If it’s not possible, what can I do with the luggage?
