How does your company handle luggage lost during business travel?

One of our employee’s luggage was lost during a recent business trip. The value of his personal items was about $2700 (all clothing, except a $700 pair of prescription glasses). Our company does not currently have a policy on how much we’ll reimburse for lost luggage, so I’m looking for input.
