How long can I wait to pick up my luggage at the detroit airport luggage department. I was on Northwest?

It’s a long story, I had a lay over and I got a ride home from a friend instead, so my bags are now at the Detroit airport, I just want to be able to contact the luggage department to say I’m going to pick up my bags in a few days but can’t find a number to call.

There is no luggage pick up at the Detroit airports.
To save time and expense, the airlines route your luggage directly to thieves for distribution. Your personal items are sorted, inventoried and distributed or sold in pawn shops, usually before you depart your flight. It is a very efficient process .

All you need to do is call the main terminal and the will transfer you over to baggage claim.
It is sort of like lost and found if you leave your luggage there. 30 days, 60 days, depends on their rules.
