As much as you can carry. Chuck
the train isnt very roomy (then again, there are no roomy trains). there are luggage spaces in each cabin, but if you take the train at peak periods you might not be able to fit everything in if you bring a lot. that is why a lot of ppl send their luggage ahead of them to the hotel and just carry whatever they can thru airport and train. lsl4x
You can conceivably bring on as much luggage as you can personally carry onto the Narita Express. You’re just limited to 2 suitcases up to 50 lbs each to bring with you on the plane, so it’s unlikely you’ll have to worry about trying to ride the train with more bags than that. Leftcoast USA
The NEX is one of the trains with the most luggage room. There is a spacious luggage area at the end of each train. There should be enough space for two large suitcases for you, even on a full train.
However, I recommend taking as little as possible with you since there are lots of places to do laundry. And, although there are coin lockers, these are NOT made for North American size suitcases. It is also extremely difficult to find places that can and will store your luggage while you are sightseeing. Maybe???
Kristen, forget about a lot of luggage. It will be more hassle than its worth.Travel light, one medium suitcase with wheels will do you.You will be able to get around easier with one.If you have to have lots of clothes , consider buying in Japan as there is no shortage of stores purely with womens fashions. Most Japanese people travel with a shoulder bag and a wheeled case (mostly small ones)especially on trains. paul e
