It rather depends on what you like to take with you! As a general rule of thumb, a well-packed smaller ‘trundle’ case weighs around 15kg, so if you have a big suitcase, your weight could easily creep over 20kgs. The secret is to weigh your suitcase on your bathroom scales the night before you go. That way, if your case is overweight, you can just take out what you don’t really need and leave it at home.
Heavy things are books, shoes, electrical items, coast and jackets. Beach clothes, t shirts, blouses, shorts, etc, are all light. Remeber that when you’re piling books, newspaper, magazines, iPods etc into your hand luggage too - you are usually only allowed ONE item of hand luggage, and for many ladies, that IS your handbag. If not, make sure you take a small handbag that can fit inside your hand luggage, and pack a bigger handbag in your suitcase if you need to.
My partner always swears by light clothing for the summer, especially tops she can wash in the sink or shower, dry on the hotel balcony, and which look great without ironing!
Enjoy your holiday! kyreniachap
