Anyone entering the US must declare their entry to the US Customs.
It does not matter if you are travelling by commercial air, private air, boat, swimming or walking.
They may open your luggage or subject it to a canine sniff search. RebelAir
Of course.
You’ll taxi to the customs terminal and park in the yellow box, you can de-plane, but don’t step outside the yellow box until the customs officer comes outside. He will usually point to the terminal and nod his head meaning you have permission to go inside as he walks out to your plane, this is because he knows everybody usually has a full bladder.
Especially women and children.
You can usually go in or stay outside with him while he gives the plane a cursory inspection. Baggage and passport/paperwork checks are done after the bathroom break is over and you are on your way through the terminal with your bags.
This is how it used to work when I was bouncing around the Caribbean about twenty years ago. One of our line pilots said he was down there a couple of years ago with the wife and kids in his Bonanza and said it hasn’t changed much. Rick
