I’m traveling to Athens Greece and want to bring a small handgun in my checked luggage, will that be a problem?
Harvey asked:
Will I be able to transport this firearm in my checked bag and if it is allowed, will there be problems when I arrive and go through customs in Athens?
The handgun is a very small calibre type of derringer that looks almost like a toy pistol. It even has a pink pearl handle.
By the way, I’m doing research for a novel that I’m writing. Trust me, if I were trying to plot/plan an assassination, I certainly wouldn’t leave a trail here on Yahoo! Answers for everyone in the world to follow, LOL

Ah yeah. Don’t even think about it. I don’t think that would be permitted in any country. You’ll probably get arrested. Snake Goddess
no, no problems there. KIDDING. why would you ask such a question? the answer is obvious. please, call the airline on which you plan to travel with and ask them the same question. iroquois_92
why would that be a problem? as a matter of fact, in case you forget your gun, another one will be given to you for free by the custom officers. or you can have a hand bomb, whatever suits you more. Athina
You need to contact the Greek Embassy in your country and try to get an authorization. In case you try to sneak it in there are a lot of chances to get arrested because all the bags go through x-rays. Δ
Yes.You lll have a problem
Guns when you enter or go out of a country are illegal unless you are an FBI/Interpol agent or something like this.
If you have a knife or something like this, the most probable is that the customs will keep it . If you have a gun, then you are probably going to be arrested.
If you want to make a scene, then you don’t have to have a real gun..There are fakes , especially made for filming Vasiliki-Βασιλική
Only disguised air marshals carry handguns on planes. hi-c
This is what the US government’s TSA website has to say about guns and firearms. From what I see, ur gun will be permitted in a checked bag….
FIREARMS - firearms carried as checked baggage MUST be unloaded, packed in a locked hard-sided container, and declared to the airline at check-in.
AMMUNITION - Check with your airline or travel agent to see if ammunition is permitted in checked baggage on the airline you are flying. If ammunition is permitted, it must be declared to the airline at check-in. Small arms ammunitions for personal use must be securely packed in fiber, wood or metal boxes or other packaging specifically designed to carry small amounts of ammunition. Ask about limitations or fees, if any, that apply.
Let me remind you that attempting to bring firearms onto a plane in carry-on luggage is a serious federal violation. This is a “strict liability” offense, and TSA says violators can be, and have been, convicted regardless of criminal intent, or even if they simply forgot they possessed a firearm.
As for customs in Greece, don’t worry, no one will say anything to you or ask you anything….hell, there probably won’t even be anyone there…..at least that’s been my experience at AIA.
