Is it illegal to Pack a Laptop into Your Checked Luggage when flying?
TravelAngel asked:
Lets say you had a Laptop that needed repair and you needed to fly to the Technician of your choice…would it be illegal to pack it in your checked luggage..of course it would be packed & wrapped well…but since when you travel with your laptop in your carry on you have to take it out of your bag…would it be the same for laptops in checked luggage?would you get in trouble for packing a broken laptop that doesn’t even turn on?

no, it’s fine. But it may get even more damaged en route, and is vulnerable to theft. neverwinter
Nope it’s not illegal to pack a laptop into checked luggage.
Though you should keep some things in mind.
Throwers, the people moving your luggage, don’t take care to move any luggage carefully, there is a reason they are called throwers.
You may be subject to a random search, but this would happen before you check your luggage.
Keep some proof that you had a laptop in there just incase the airline looses your bags you can rightfully claim the $$$ in losses. James
Not illegal, but not exactly wise. Your luggage will be opened and searched. The laptop may be damaged or even stolen.
Most travel gurus advise passengers not to put valuables in their checked luggage. Why not just carry it onboard with you? You won’t get in trouble either way, but you may regret checking it. Cheryl G
