With the amount of carry on luggage, it seems it is more convenient for everyone if you check your luggage. Why is it then so costly, if it is the wise decision?

What are the dimensions of the biggest object you can carry onto an airplane as hand luggage?

Is there a weight restriction? Do different airlines have different rules? I want to buy a telescope which is small enough to take on a flight - I wouldn’t trust it to the luggage handlers.

Would it be cheaper to ship my luggage via USP then to take them to the airlines?

I lost my luggage with plenty of valuables in it. I suspect that it was stolen by person/persons who knew the items inside it and had deliberately set out to take it from me. I have complained to the airlines, through a long and difficult process. There were other wierd things that happened during my travel like being issued a wrong boarding pass in someone else’s name, etc..
The airlines has not responded to my claims yet.

What do you think? Anyone had similar experiences? What did you do? Is there an organization that one could go to that governs and one can lodge a complaint about such an incident?

If i’m underage is there anyway the airlines can find out if i put alcohol in my checked luggage? no carry on?

I haven’t flown in about 2 years, I was wondering if there is anything that I wouldn’t normally think of that isn’t allowed on planes? In my purse alone I keep tweezers and a mini bottle of perfume. I know some airlines are very strict about what’s in people’s luggage. What is normally allowed/not allowed? I am not going to have enough luggage to check a bag either so that isn’t an option. Thanks.

BlueTuna asked:

I’m travelling abroad, and was wondering if there are any restrictions on carrying food in your checked in luggage? I will be carrying some Chocolate/candy and cookies. What are the restrictions regarding different types of food on board airlines, and do certain rules apply depending on the country you are travelling too? I realise liquids are still an issue, but I’m not sure about other types?

I’m traveling to Canada next year, and can’t afford actual luggage bags, so I’m hoping a duffel bag or two and perhaps even a backpack will be acceptable to take on an airplane or if there are certain rules Airlines stand by regarding that.
