Is it convenent to travel from BWI to DC using MARC with luggage and a baby or would Amtrak be a better option?

my luggage until I get off the second train. Do I make sure they put it on the first bus and the second train. And when I get off in Bakersfield and they don’t have checked luggage where do I get it at?
