Are used hookahs allowed on checked luggage for an international flight?

Must I reclaim my checked luggage from the LIAT flight and go through customs? Can LIAT check my luggage all the way to Miami even though the second leg is with AA? I am worried about the short time in Barbados. If I must claim my bags, I’m sure that I’ll miss my next flight.

Can I bring handcuffs on an airplane in my checked luggage?

It will not have any wepons on it i.e. firearm, pepperspray, asp, etc…it will have the holster for the firearm and two sets of handcuffs.
