Can you put a large bottle of hair spray in your checked luggage with out there being a problem?

And if you do put it in your checked luggage, do they search your bag before you aboard the plane, or do theyput it throught a machine and it checks it. im very confused, if you can help, PLEASE do so.

Are there any notebook computer backpacks available that are large enough to accomode a fair amount of luggage?
