What are luggage rules now days for airplane flights?
j asked:
I haven’t traveled since I was a kid. I will be going on a plane. I do not know the rules for luggage. I know you get one large bag that goes into the back of the plane. But what about carry on? How Many can you have? And What is the size of a carry on? Thanks so much for the help.

you might want to call the company and ask because there are different planes that have different rules towards the luggage KrazyGal
It all has to depend on the airline, your type of ticket, and the destination. Go to your airline’s website and check out its baggage allowance for both carry on and checked. Assuming you’re flying from the US, see the following links for what’s prohibited to bring with you. longliveabcdefg
Luggage rules all depend on what airline you are flying. You really need to check with them to be absolutely sure you meet their requirements.
Generally, the rule is that you pay a fee for checked luggage. The exceptions are Southwest Airlines and many international flights. Luggage sizes, weights, and fees for checked luggage vary by airline.
For carry-on luggage, the rules vary between airlines, but most travelers are allowed to bring one carry-on suitcase and one handbag or briefcase. Last time I flew, I took a carry-on sized suitcase, a handbag, and my coat. Carry-on luggage must be within the airline’s size and weight requirements. Carry-on size is generally about 22″ x 14″ x 9″ or 45″ total (height + width + length).
Make sure that you understand what you can carry on before you leave for the airport. Remember the 3-1-1 rule for liquids: all liquids carried on must be 3 oz or less, in a one-quart clear plastic bag, with 1 bag per person. Laptops must be removed from laptop bags and placed in a bin by themselves (unless you have a checkpoint friendly laptop bag). peachyshari
