What can we do to keep out luggage safe?

Normally I pack (in my checked luggage) clothes, shoes, and my perfume, with the really important stuff like my cell phone, chargers, laptop, etc in my tote bag that I bring with me. The problem is , there is nothing you can do, except what you are already doing. do not put any electronics, money, jewelry, gifts in your checked luggage. this may make your carry on bulky and heavy, but you have no choice. I do not fly often, but have a friend who does. On her flight a couple of weeks ago a gift watch she had in her checked luggage was stolen. She has had many things stolen over the years. It is very sad, but TSA agents and baggage handlers routinely steal from luggage.
