What happens to items a person has to leave behind at the airport due to overweight luggage?
Jill P asked:
If you have to leave clothes/other items because your luggage is overweight what happens to these things? Are they thrown away or maybe auctioned off to staff?

I do know that there are airport auctions - but I recommend finding lightweight luggage so that you don’t have to worry about that lol jennickers
I’ve rarely seen anyone actually leave stuff behind. They usually have someone with them to give the things to. Worst case they simply throw things away. Most airline agents aren’t allowed to take things from passengers, though where I worked we had a lot of guys in a specific industry going overseas and they usually had big bags of food (like candy they can’t get over there) so they would often grab a couple bags of candy and give them to us. Anything that is left behind is disposed of by incineration. If you ever have to dispose of anything, pick items like underwear this is relatively cheap to get new stuff, any old trainers and there is nothing to say you can not wear more then one shirt or two coats onto the plane, you may look odd however jackets can weigh a lot in your luggage.
