Are you flying or driving? We are hauling all my daughter’s stuff to her school so she packed in boxes and plastic totes, along with a few suitcases. If you are flying you will have to use suitcases or duffel bags and ship any other stuff in boxes (mail, UPS, whatever method works for you.)
(We have relatives about an hour away from her school where she will be able to store stuff)
I use a lot of plastic storage containers. You can use them over and over again and they are really easy to store. It really doesnt matter what you bring your stuff in no one really cares. Last year I used boxes, laundry baskets, bags, and storage containers. Just use what you can put the most stuff into!
My family drove there, and I used primarily boxes to lug my stuff. I also put things in my hamper, anything already assembled that holds stuff, my duffel bag (I use it when I visit home), and my laundry basket. It made it really convenient. This is the same way I have moved every time since (I have moved four times in the past year, all on my college campus). Pack things in whatever you plan to use later. Remember that anything you can’t throw away you also have to store once you empty it. Another helpful thing: try to pack like items together, and if you use boxes, write on the box its contents. It makes unpacking so much easier! Have a great move.
Stuff that you can either throw away, or fold up and stick in a closet. Believe me, space is limited… you’re not going to want to store luggage.
