What other luggage space is there in a mooney aircraft?
hhhhhhhhhhhhhh asked:
I know there is a luggage compartment in the back of the plane but is there one in the nose. I know some planes do have that. Does a mooney have a nose luggage compartment?

Only experience with Mooneys is when a friend owned a 1968 M20C. Great fuel efficiency & reliability, but the thing’s kinda shrink-wrapped around you, small frontal area being key to its efficiency. The only luggage area that one had was the compartment behind the cockpit you get to through a small exterior hatch.
Planes are more constrained by how much weight you load into them, so you can’t just stuff it with until it’s bursting like many people are used to doing with their cars. It’s also important where on the plane you put the weight.
But it does go fast.
You can carry a **LOT** of luggage in the back area. I have a family of 4 and we travel down into Mexico for 3 weeks at a time. We load that baby up!! The best part of the Mooney is that the baggage door is correctly located near the top so you don’t need to climb over the back seat to load to the top as you do with Cessna’s and Bonanzas. The Mooney has a great useful load, don’t let its super long range dissuade you in its useful load. 182 drivers think they are cool because they can carry full fuel, but if you only filled the Mooney with enough fuel to fly the short distance a 182 can go, you’d fill all the seats too. Longest leg I’ve done in the Mooney was 7 hours crossing all the way down Socal and Baja with fuel to spare.
not in the nose.
