So I’m a sixteen year old girl going to England in a few days for a month and I don’t know what to put in my carry-on bag (hand luggage). Please help! Thanks!

I carry my ipod, book, magazine, make-up, phone, neck pillow - anything that I might need handy while in flight.

What’s most important is what *not* to put in your luggage. Don’t want to get singled out for special treatment at security, which includes a full frisking and them ripping your bag apart.

I would definitely bring something to keep me distracted in case I couldn’t sleep on the plane, as the flight to England will probably be an overnight flight. Magazines, a long book, your gameboy. Most of the long haul planes have TVs in the seat back, usually with an selection of channels and music. We flew British Airways the October before last, and they had a few movies to choose from.

edit: Oh, and don’t forget to bring a change of clothes in your carry-on, in case your luggage is delayed.

usually I take one of thouse mini-suite cases that you can carry on the aeroplane and PACK it with clothes if I am going to be two weeks+ because when you’re on holiday the last thing you want to do is wash clothes… and I alway’s get stuff on them.

I also fill it with valuables such as if I was taking my laptop…

England is cold ! so if you’re taking a big coat take it as hand luggage also =) thats why I do when I go Skiing it save’s alot of Space =)

if you think it will be annoying carrying two suitecases… you’ll drive to the aeroport… then check your main suitecase in… then you won’t see it again untill you get to England and then you’ll get onto a coach to go to your hotel ?

What you can take in your carry-on depends on three items, restrictions on what you can bring, and the size and weight that the airline allows. Sharp objects generally have to be packed in your checked luggage and liquids, gels, and pastes must be in containers no larger than 3oz (100ml) and they must be carried in a sealed zip-lock type bag no large than 1 quart (generally a “medium” size). This includes lotions, shampoo, toothpaste and makeup. Check the website of the airline you are travelling with for size nd weight restrictions. They will also have a list or a link to a list of what is allowed and what is prohibited.

As for items to pack, I always try to bring at least one change of clothes in case my main suitcase is “delayed”. In addition a good book, Ipod, hand held video game or other item to entertain you should be packed. You can carry a purse or other personal item separately so small items could be placed in there.
