what to do with luggage when visiting Rhine Falls?

We intend to go to Rhine Falls from Freiburg and take our luggages with us so that later we can continue our journey to Lucerne. Do you suggest leaving the luggages at the Scaffhausen train station? (is there a left luggage there?) OR leaving them in a hotel and spend the night there? While at the Rhine Falls we plan to go around Scaffhausen and Stein am Rhein. Thanks for your help.

Baggage service at the Schaffhausen train station is open:
mon - fri: 09:30am - 12:30pm and 01:30pm - 06:20pm
saturday: 01:30pm - 06:20pm
sunday: closed
