I am flying to Boston and will stay at the Marriott Copley Place and want the best way to get there. Can I do it on the subway or is that too much of a hassle with luggage.

You could check the airport’s website [under "ground transportation"] to see what is available. Many of the major airports have “Super Shuttle”, a shared van service that’s usually very reasonably priced and probably available very near baggage pick-up area. Make sure your hotel doesn’t have a shuttle service, too, although in the city that service isn’t usually offered.

Depending on what time you are flying in. If it is rush hour then don’t bother with the T (subway), take a cab. Otherwise the subway is the easiest, just make sure you read the signs so you don’t go the wrong way. I believe it is all online now,.

The best way to get there is by cab, but that can be a lot of money. If you call the Marriott, they can tell you exactly how much it would be. If you want to take the Subway, which I do all the time, and isn’t that bad to take luggage on as long as you can lift it, just ask someone at the airport where the shuttle to the Blue line is. It will be outside the doors to the airport and they run every 5 to 10 minutes, just make sure you get on the bus that says that it goes to the Blue line (the buses are marked). Get a charlieticket from the ticket machines (the trains cost $2.00 with one) and get on the inbound train. Take the Blue line inbound to Government Center, and Switch to the Green Line train, which is up the stairs.

Now, this is where it will get confusing. Government Center is the center of the Green Line, so both ways is going outbound. You would want to go one one of the trains labled: B-Boston College, C-Cleveland Circle, D-Riverside, or E-Heath Street. DO NOT GO ON A TRAIN LABLED NORTH STATION OR LECHMERE. Those trains will bring you the wrong direction.

Once you get on the B,C,D,or E train, just get off at Copley. I’m not sure where the Marriott is, but anyone working in the station or standing in the station can probably give directions.

Like I said, as long as you can lift your luggage, the train will be ok to use, I do it all the time. If you go to the MBTA’s website, they can give you a print out of the directions. They may have you taking the silver line instead of the Blue line, but I find the silver line to be a hassle, because it is actually a bus line, and you have to transfer more on the silverline, which means you have to carry the luggage off and on the bus/train.

Another piece of advice–if you do decide to take the train, while you’re at Government Center, waiting for a Green line train, look for a train without steps. The middle sections of some of the E and C lines have no steps, making it easier for getting luggage on and off the trains. The B line may have some too, but I can’t recall. Also, remember to hang on, I see many people who aren’t used to the train do a nice “i’m going to fall over” dance when the train starts to move.

    Good luck in your travels!

I did K & L Shuttle………If your hotel doesn’t offer shuttle service get a cab………it’s not bad in price……just ask price first Have fun!!!!!!!!!!

You can take the subway, I’ve gone from the Green Line (Reservoirs) all the way to Terminal B at Logan. The silverline is nice because it has plenty of room for luggage and is easy to get to Copley.

Get on the blue line and get off at state street or government center, then get on the green line and that will take you right to Copley. The stop is called Copley.

Take the T rush hour or not it is cheaper and switching from train to train is free.
